Re: Registrations temporarily disabled

I got lazy/busy with other stuff so did not look at this yet but I did not forget about it.

I still have not sent a mass email to all original members yet, but need to sort out email server reputation before I do that...

Re: Registrations temporarily disabled

Yeah it's still disabled for now. I need to completely redesign the registration process to have better validation steps before the email even goes out, so I can reduce mail traffic. Just been busy with other stuff, trying to race against time to finish lot of projects before winter comes. I am look...

Registrations temporarily disabled

We are being attacked by bots mass registering accounts, this is generating an influx in mail traffic which is starting to get us blacklisted. Disabling registrations until I can figure out a way to block these.

Re: Anandtech on the ropes

Should be doable, I'd have to look to see how easy it would be to just do a CSS changer that way if I make changes to template I don't have to repeat for each style.

Re: emails going to gmail not working

This is now partially working, but you may need to check your spam folder for the email. There is also a big delay, like a good 5 minutes. The server is now showing mail leaving immediately but it sits at Google's end for a while before showing up in the inbox.

Re: emails going to gmail not working

DKIM is setup but gmail still blocking our IP, but not blocking IP of the other mail server. If this persists I will offload forum email to the other server. For anyone from AT signing up just PM me there I can manually approve the account.

emails going to gmail not working

We are looking into an issue affecting gmail. They have imposed new requirements to have a DKIM record and it's quite an extensive process to setup all of that on the server so doing that right now. In the meantime if you try to sign up with gmail or you try to initiate a password reset and have gma...

Re: "Https" Banner still not showing

Normally it should work on most web hosting plans, but I guess yours blocks hot linking. I'm surprised imgur does not work, I just tested it and it works. Make sure that you use the url to the image file directly though, and not just the page that shows the image. Been meaning to revamp the site tho...

Re: "Https" Banner still not showing

It looks like your web host is not allowing hot linking. Maybe it's a setting somewhere in your control panel.

Hope you're feeling better, I see things work now, but let me know if there's still an issue. If there's still a password issue you can PM me the email you used and I can reset manually then send you it to that email.

Re: Wood stove install

Yeah the fact that it went up that high, and will probably keep going up, is what made me give in. The wood is going to be relatively free other than gas for my truck to go get it. My next step is to start incorporating solar more into my house as well, since hydro is another cost that I could work ...

Re: Wood stove install

According to the Enbridge site it's 13.6488 cents/cubic metre but there's a bunch of extra fees and taxes as well so it's hard to tell for sure what it comes up to or if those are included, they're not really clear. My typical bill last year was $170/mo, this year it's been adjusted down to $100 and...

Board preferences invalid language error

If you try to submit your board preferences such as time zone you may have been previously getting an error about invalid language. This should be resolved for existing accounts at this point, but the fix has not been pushed to prod yet so it may affect any accounts that get created after this annou...

Wood stove install

Couple years back my Embridge gas bill skyrocketed and I decided to get a wood stove. Trudeau's carbon tax sure doesn't help either. After not being able to find anyone to install it and just being given the run around I decided to do it myself. Figured I'd share the process. IMG_20221113_141835.jpg...

Grass is starting to grow in already which will help make the ground more stable. Also brought in a small shelter so I don't have to pack so much stuff when I go there. Can leave camping chairs and stuff behind now.

Yeah I don't really have any plans to shut this place down even though it's dead. I still need to send a mass email to all the old timers to see if some may come back just have not gotten around to it yet. The forum has actually been going on since early 2000 under different names. Only recently did...

Yeah this would probably be the a stable place as I have no intention of ending it. I have posts going back to the early 2000's on here. The forum itself is a relaunch and is fairly new, but the data itself is still old and has survived decades. It doesn't really cost me that much to keep it going. ...
