okay guys i know you like a challenge, a friend of mine (he's a member of an online group im in). has got him self a problem, and im buggered if i can work it out. He has an audigy sound card when he plugs a mic in it doesn't work. the mic is turned unmuted in playback and record. He says that the mic works fine in is stereo/HI-FI but naff all when plugged into (the right) jack. He also has an on bored sound card which is diasbled through his BIOS. however when he takes the audigy card out and reinables the onbored card, guess what. the mic doesn't work. He says that he has tried 2 other mics and it s the same. work in a HI-FI doesn't in the computer.
any ideas?
anything at all, its got me foxed. but im shore its a confliced somewhere.

Hmm not sure then. Did he check the settings for the mic volume and stuff? It could be something as simple as it being too low or turned off. Depending on the sound card, there could actually be two settings for this, one in the generic windows volume control settings, and one in the sound card's own software.
