Since the update summoned things seem terrible.
Was something changed or was this unintentional?

An ogre beat the crap out of my EV earlier.

I watched something tear through my skeletal dragons in seconds.
I don't know if they're spawning with barely any hit points, terrible resist, terrible melee skills, if they're taking extra damage or what, but they die 10 times easier and faster than they used to.
Something seems really messed up :(

I have also noticed this. It seems the HP of summons drains at a much faster rate at least.

That's strange as there hasn't been anything directly changed that would impact this (No changes to summon scripts). I'll take a look to make sure they are spawning with proper attributes and doing the damage they are supposed to be doing.

Are they dying quicker or being dispelled by something? Which summons were you using and what monsters have you noticed the biggest impact against?

Dying quicker.
EVs seem very weak. They die to things they killed before without difficulty.

Today I also watched a DF kill 5 skeletal dragons in seconds.
Before they would outlast the DF if they had any help dealing damage.
I thought it was just Energy Vortexes until I saw more than once how easily summoned skel dragons (grim strike or animate dead) die now compared to before.

Will be taking a look at this today or tomorrow and analyzing the stats of summoned creatures in game.

Just watch a summon from a Grim's Strike with it just standing there not doing anything. You can see the HP pouring out of it.

This is maybe the biggest thing keeping me from wanting to play right now.
Cuz I think of logging in my necro mage and doing something and then remember everything I like about it sucks now.
Figure anything out?

I've determined that EVs last for 90 sec like I guess they should, and don't lose health on their own. But they die very easily in combat compared to before.

Grim Strike summoned and Animate Dead summoned skeletal dragons are both garbage now. Other summons are weaker also, but it's most obvious with the dragons.

Yeah it's super messed up. they feel like a summoned horse rather than the old EVs.

I did take a look at this and determined that ev's seemed weaker than before as they were taking more damage than before.

The animate dead creatures also seemed to be weaker. The difficult part is determining the outlying factor as to why summons are not as strong. The scripts were not touched directly. This will require more research to find the root of the problem.

This is now fixed as of January 6, 2012. All summons should now be working as they would normally.

Wish I knew what caused this. It came up in conversation today and I thought I could find the post about it. Did but no idea what the problem was or how it was fixed.

If I recall it had to do with code that ensures a pet's owner is within line of sight as there was an issue with people leaving their pets unattended to do all the work to farm artys. The summons are treated differently than pets so that code was basically not seeing the owner being around so had to make an exception so it does not apply to summons as it was not actually meant to.

It should be fixed in the code release though.
