Neither really, Edwards did ok, but I think came off a little too strong, Cheney did a good job of deflecting questions and replying with criticism that took your mind off the issue being discussed. Neither really did well, imo.

As has been said numorous time, they are because the american public is not informed enough to make decisions on their own, the debates prove it. And if the debates done right, like our government or any other thing, they would be good and important.
What is the point of always harping on the negative?

nothing, but from history and experience, the good tends not pointed out when you start overwhelmingly with the bad. Focus on one side and it flavors your thought process.

No, because it is the only choce at this point, many 6 months ago a 3rd or 4th canadate had a chance, but not now, the game is to lopsided and geared towards 2 parties.
Why don't more states drop the winner takes all method and distribute more fairly to the vote?
Archived topic from Anythingforums, old topic ID:82, old post ID:14333
because then the candidates would completely ignore the smaller states.
the only reason that they are the only two choices is because nobody wants to take the initiative to vote for them. if all of the millions of americans that vote for the main parties just because they are the main parties would vote for the third parties, then that would be pretty big, no?

Most people I talk to don't even know that there are other choices, but yeah, if everybody elected a Third-Party candidate, I'd be surprised (and pleased, unless it was a fascist third party or something )
ron paul (too bad he's not actually running this year, but he ran in 1996)
i feel that most americans have libertarian tendencies, but with a strong sympathy that leads to some socialistic tendencies. what do you think about a socialist-libertarian party?
Archived topic from Anythingforums, old topic ID:82, old post ID:14376
If my understanding of socialism is correct (avoiding a society that rewards the small concentration of the wealthy, and tries to keep all classes on even ground), sounds like it might garner more support, although enforcing socialism might tread on some libertarian core values (little-to-no government interference)
How'd you find out about the Libertarian party?
