You'd be suprised how lot of opened things don't affect it as much, they are still idle. They use memory, but not really CPU time. Don't worry about the usage
As long as you're running it, all the time you are off the PC it's usually running at 99% .

Actually, I don't really use all of it. For example, I always leave my e-mail software running so it will check e-mail and I always leave my media player opened so I can listen to music on the fly.
I just have all those things running so I don't have to wait for it to load when I need it!

Yeah, but sometimes those apps use a CPU cycle. Even though it isn't much, it does affect it slightly....

The only use I would have for a burner is in case I need to reformat, which I had rather not do! That is a pain! It would be easier with a burner though.
