Or you can use the christmas light analogy. Those small ones you buy that are all in series would be raid 0. If one light fails, the whole thing is caput and wont work. But you get better performance as your drawing less current. The bigger lights are like a raid 1, if one light fails the set continues to work. Hmm wonder how a raid 5 with Christmas lights would work. Maybe the newer small indoor types, where there's a metal piece that melts over the light bulb when it burns so it lets it go, but if too many lights fail then you'll still have issues.
