over clocking dual core

Post by ycontrol »

I have a dual core that was over clocking GTA SA. I thought that was pretty weird at the time. Installed Splinter Spell DA and it was going in slow motion. I googled it and found out that it was the dual core and I had to set the affinity to 1 cpu for it to play right. Thought that was weird but read it happens with older games. Installed COD World at War...sometimes plays great and sometimes over clocks and my guy runs around buildings at lightening speed.
:(

Interesting. Yeah, it's generally been the case that software not written for multithreading won't perform as well on dual-cpu systems (or processors that multithread, like dual-core, and to and extent, P4's with Hyperthreading).
