So hey it's not 100% related to this topic, but I wanted to know how you feel about the Alberta (and possibly British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan) semi-independence movement. I keep seeing all these clickbait videos on YouTube about it. But they're very repetitive and light on actual information.

Apparently Alberta is making its own trade deals? Or something?

I'm for it, sorta. I think it will be bad for those of us not in Alberta but Ottawa has been shitting on Alberta forever and screwing them over so I can't blame them for wanting to separate and if it happens I hope it lights a fire under our government.

Alberta is our main source of income due to oil, but the government is constantly putting restrictions on exports and extraction, while at the same time sending equalization payments to other provinces, so it's really a kick in the face.

The oil is in Alberta, the dipstick is in Ottawa. :D

Yeah that's the gist of what I've been hearing. Not sure if it's in Alberta's best interest to flirt with joining the US, but it may not be in their best interest to stay under the thumb of Ontario. A little bit of autonomy could go a long way for the Western provinces.
