what he does to houses isnt a scam either its user stupidity i know the trick ive done it before its so simple.

theres so many gullable people in the world someone has to fall for it..

in all honesty with alllll the troubles that rod (shammon) and mirage cause the shard would b a much nicer place without them they were both banned from demise for scams and generally being retards so why should a better shard suffer their kind as well :S either way i for one am just going to ignore them

Thats the best thing to do with people like that.

I don't want to make scams illegal as its too hard to proove them and track them. Most of them are very easy to go around. I mean if a very clear scam is caught or some excessive scamming occurs I will take action, but in general, its really up to players to play it smart and avoid the scams.

That said, if any mechanisms could be coded better for anti scamming, I'm all up for fixing those. Pet trades for example, I could have it so the pet being traded is highlighted in some way, so its clear that its THAT pet, and not some invised one or something.

A scam prevention thread would be a nobel idea. Or a special read only book in luna to help new players protect themselves from scammers. This is one of those things that exist on every shard, regarless of age and size (Osi has em too).

I tried doing that on Demise. Lets just say people used my thread as a guide on how to scam people. (Ever wonder why there were SO many scam threads following my post? lol)

Not to get off topic too much, collecting items from IDOCs is a legitimate task in UO. I do agree with two things though. Knowing how house scamming works leaves other people open to getting scammed, but having a public thread with the things to look for stickied in a forum guide area at least puts everyone on a level playing field of possible exploits and ways around the system.

Anything of value should be handled with caution when it comes to trading with someone.

I hate to dig up old threads like this, but Shammon is back. Watch your trades, I think he is going under Fist of Fury also. They are sending similar messages in game asking for cross shard trades.
